AGES opts for electricity supply that is 100% renewable, generated entirely from wind power
AGES makes further headway in its sustainability work by signing a new electricity supply contract. The contract means that all of the group’s electricity will come from wind power. This amounts in total to 24 GWh/year.
AGES’ total electricity requirements will in future be met entirely by companies that generate electricity from wind power.
“Sustainability is part and parcel of our day-to-day work and goes hand in hand with our business strategies. For instance, all aluminium used in our casting plants consists of 100% recycled material, which we refine to create new products. It was therefore a natural step for us to use 100% renewable energy in our production processes, says Johan Bladh, CFO of AGES.”
Bixia, AGES’ chosen supplier, has extensive experience in working with producers of renewable electricity and is the electricity company in the Nordic Region that purchases the greatest proportion of renewable energy directly from the generating companies.
“One might say that we at Bixia bring the electricity producer and the electricity customer together. We want to help producers of solar, wind and hydroelectric power operate at a profit, and we want more customers to understand the importance their choice of electricity has for our environment. The most important thing we can do to slow down climate change is to switch our energy systems from fossil fuels to renewables, says Marcus Annell, Portfolio Manager at Bixia.”
